In the houses of the horoscope,
I arrange the planets like chess pieces,
Yet the configurations I desire never quite form !
At times Mercury, at times Saturn,
finds fault and alters the game.
Amid the constellations, wandering planets
sometimes wound me with retrograde, crooked glances—
sometimes scorch me, robbing all my light—
As though, in response to the ruin
of my mortal longings,
they dance with comets and meteors,
fulfilling the grand design
of the entire cosmos.—
